Convert your Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster system.
If you live in a newer home, you may have a Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster garage door system. These systems were originally developed to improve on traditional torsion springs by hiding the garage door springs within a spring bar/torsion tube. These systems also use small, plastic drums placed on each end of the torsion tube, connecting the drums to the bottom bracket of the door. Because of this specialized design, the springs can counterbalance the heavy weight of the door, so the drums and cables can then lower and lift the door when opening and closing.
Because the Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster system is an enclosed one, you cannot hear the spring snap when it goes bad. And when the spring breaks, the opener won’t be able to manage the heavy weight of the door, shortening the life of the opener unless you replace it.
While you can move forward with the Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster repair process and put in a new spring, you can also convert your system to one with a traditional torsion spring. This is what we recommend at On Track Garage Doors. And although converting your system to one with a traditional torsion spring will cost more upfront, it will cost less in the long run than trying to maintain your TorqueMaster system.
